Russian President Vladimir Putin has emphasized the importance of cooperation among BRICS countries, based on national sovereignty, equal opportunities, and balanced economic development.
Speaking during the BRICS summit in New Delhi, Putin said that BRICS is not an alliance created to oppose other countries. Instead, he described it as a platform for promoting common interests and strengthening cooperation while respecting the independent choices of each nation.

He also stressed the importance of strengthening practical cooperation in areas such as trade, investment, technology, and infrastructure.
His remarks come as BRICS continues to expand its role in global economic and diplomatic affairs. The group now includes 11 countries and represents a significant share of the world’s population.
For Russia, Putin wants BRICS to become a stronger platform for cooperation among developing countries, including by reducing barriers to trade and strengthening financial cooperation.
