Idrissa Ouedraogo Reveals Details of Dispute with Ishimwe Vestine, Financial Losses in Rwanda

While appearing before the Kicukiro Primary Court to pursue his request for a DNA test to establish whether he is the biological father of Ishimwe Vestine’s child, Idrissa Ouedraogo, who had arrived hoping to avoid the media, spoke to journalists about some of the key details surrounding his dispute with Vestine and the financial losses he has suffered in Rwanda.

On Friday, Idrissa said he never signed documents authorizing Vestine to remain in Canada permanently. Instead, he claimed that he was misled into believing that she was ill and unable to board a flight. He said he subsequently signed documents allowing her to remain in Canada temporarily.

According to Idrissa, he signed the documents late at night after Vestine called him and said the matter was urgent. As a result, he did not take time to seek further clarification. He later said he was informed by the person who had invited Vestine and her colleagues that their working arrangement had been terminated and that Vestine was not actually sick.

Idrissa further explained that, despite Vestine remaining in Canada, he wrote to Irene on November 3, 2025, requesting that she return Vestine to him, as they had allegedly agreed. However, Irene never responded. He also claimed that Irene had refused to communicate with him since their wedding.

He said that while Vestine has been living in Canada, she has continued spending his money. According to him, more than RWF 20 million has already been withdrawn from his funds by Vestine during this period. He added that she is now in the process of seeking a divorce.

Why Idrissa Is Requesting a DNA Test

Idrissa explained that his request for a DNA test followed repeated attempts to obtain at least a photograph of the child, which he claims were denied.

He also alleged that his mother-in-law, Vestine’s mother, once questioned his paternity, reportedly saying:

“How can he know that the child is his? After all, only the mother knows who the child’s father is.”

Idrissa also told an InyaRwanda journalist that he has allegedly been subjected to disturbing incidents in which young women are sent to his home. He claimed that the women arrive at night, knock on his door, and, when he opens it, begin undressing while calling him affectionate nicknames and taking photographs.

Claims Surrounding Irene Murindahabi’s Wedding

Idrissa also clarified that he did not attend Irene Murindahabi’s wedding simply because he had received an invitation. He claimed that an influential individual came to his home and instructed him that they had to attend Irene Murindahabi’s wedding. He said he went because he had been instructed to do so.

Business Investment Allegedly Affected by the Dispute

Speaking with visible sadness and emotion, Idrissa revealed that he had planned to establish a business investment in Rwanda in which he would own a 50% stake, while his business partners would hold the remaining 50%.

However, he said the investment plans were disrupted by the ongoing divorce-related controversy. According to him, his potential business partners travelled to Rwanda and spent four days in the country before leaving without accomplishing what they had intended.

Idrissa emphasized that he is a Christian who was born and raised in the church. He said he does not wish to go through a divorce. Nevertheless, he acknowledged that if divorce becomes the only remaining option to resolve the situation, he will proceed with it.
